Pinnaplasty

Do you wish you had ears that didn’t stick out so much? Perhaps you hold your ears in their ideal position just to see how you would look without the prominent facial features.

Pinnaplasty can permanently change your ears so you no longer need to be self-conscious of them.

What is Pinnaplasty?

Pinnaplasty, also known as ear pinning, is a surgical procedure which helps to pin back prominent ears into a more subtle position. If your ears are too large or stick out, ear pinning can improve the shape of your ears and make them less prominent.

What does the procedure involve?

Pinnaplasty is generally a one to two hour procedure performed by one of our specialist cosmetic surgeons who will make cuts behind each ear and use the cartilage to re-shape or fold the ear. Sometimes the cartilage may be removed all together. When the surgeon is happy that the ears have reached their desired new shape, small stitches are used to hold the ear in its new position.

Pinnaplasty can be performed under general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic, where the area is numb but you are awake. Following surgery, patients will usually be able to return home later the same day.

Is Pinnaplasty right for me?

Pinnaplasty is a procedure that can help people with prominent ears to regain confidence in their appearance. You will have a consultation with your specialist surgeon before the procedure where they will explain the results you can expect to achieve and will discuss the associated risks and alternatives.
