Live surgery masterclass streamed across the globe to over 180 surgeons

Saturday 25th April 2015 saw over 45 surgeons attend The Chelmsford Private Day Surgery Hospital from across the UK and Europe to watch leading Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon, Professor James Frame perform live surgery. A further 147 consultants also watched the surgery online via a live webcam from countries including; Holland, Germany, Italy, Korea, Thailand and Australia.

The surgery was broadcast from theatres to a live audience in The Chelmsford’s main reception area with commentary from Mr Paul Levick. Pro-Vice Chancellor from the Postgraduate Medical Institute at Anglia Ruskin University opened the floor to introduce the event, followed by Professor Frame to outline the days procedures.

Professor Frame leads the MSc in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at Anglia Ruskin University, the first practice-based qualification in the world to be endorsed by ISAPS (the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery). The Anglia Ruskin University holds frequent education and training courses at various locations throughout the United Kingdom. The Chelmsford works very closely with the university to support fully accredited Plastic Surgeons in developing super specialty skills in cosmetic surgery with an end-qualification (MSc) that the public can identify as evidence of competence in this field.

Three surgical procedures took place including; Breast augmentation, Upper blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and closed Rhinoplasty (nose surgery). During procedures, surgeons attending the live surgery were able to ask questions directly to Professor James Frame via microphone for personal guidance and techniques used.

The camera angles used and commentary from both Professor Frame and Mr Paul Levick enabled plastic surgeons from across the world to see almost every incision made in detail, accompanied by a clear description on how to do so.

The event was organised by Eurosurgical and Professor Frame to assist in the promotion of using Polyurethane surface implants and enabling surgeons to watch, learn and interact throughout the day. Questions were fired at Professor Frame via Eurosurgical staff monitoring the live feed, from surgeons viewing online across the world.

In addition to live surgery, surgeons were also introduced to The Chelmsford's IC360 camera, which captures true, dynamic rendering of a patient's feature in a 360 degree image. The IC360 camera is the worlds premier imaging system, the first of its kind following a prototype in Hollywood with Dr Gregory Mueller. Directly comparative views are taken both before and three months after surgery in a specially designed photographic studio at The Chelmsford Private Day Surgery Hospital.

The Chelmsford Private Day Surgery Hospital really is a Center of Excellence for cosmetic surgery with leading Plastic and Aesthetic surgeons to hand and the most up to date and high-tech equipment in the world.
