Vascular Laser treatment of varicose veins, Thread veins, Aneurysmal disease, open and endovascular repair, Carotid surgery, Peripheral vascular disease,Hyperhydrosis.
Tom Browne received his undergraduate degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in his native Ireland and his postgraduate degrees from the Royal College of Surgeons London. He received his Masters of Surgery from the University College Dublin for his work on small diameter vascular grafts. He trained in Royal Perth Hospital, Australia, with Michael Lawrence-Brown, the world-renowned endovascular surgeon. It was there that Mr. Browne invented the fenestrated endovascular graft, now used for more than 5000 patients worldwide.
With 28 years experience as a doctor across three continents, Tom settled in the UK twelve years ago where he has been caring for the people of Essex as a Consultant vascular and general surgeon.
He continues to challenge the establishment, to maintain the highest standards possible for his patients. He has introduced the protected bay for his patient undergoing graft surgery in Broomfield. He introduced a green ribbon policy, ensuring that all patients can be confident of being treated in a clean environment. He has an outstanding record of safety and success (Guardian June 14 2010)
Tom was one of the first surgeons to use the endovenous technique for laser treatment of varicose veins. He also introduced Carotid surgery under a local anesthetic technique to Broomfield Hospital. He continues to stay in the forefront of modern advances for the treatment of varicose veins.
Tom has in excess of 75 Papers, Presentations and Publications. He is a clinical tutor, an instructor for the Royal College Basic Surgical Training and introduced the comprehensive endovascular program for the trust.
His current research, in collaboration with the scientists and academics in Anglia Ruskin University, is on the development of an pneumatic boot for the treatment of Varicose Ulcers.
He is on the council for the British Society for Endovascular Therapy, a member of the Vascular Surgical Society and a member of the British Association of Medical Management
