Pain Management, Acute and chronic pain management, Precision interventional therapies for pain diagnosis and treatment, Implantable neuromodulation (Spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal drug delivery) for refractory neuropathic cancer and angina pain, Medico-legal expert.

Training & background:

I qualified in 1983 from University of London and received my fellowship of Royal College of Anaesthesia in 1988. I started a NHS consultant post in 1992. I was one of the first in the UK to qualify as a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice and was a founding fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. I served on the council of the British Pain Society until 2008.

I founded the Neuromodulation Society of UK and Ireland in 2000 and am currently serving as President of the International Neuromodulation Society. I was and am Chair of the Scientific Committee of the 10th and 11th Biennial Scientific Meeting of the INS in London in May 2011 and Berlin 2013.

I have received grants and carry out pivotal research in spinal cord stimulation for failed back surgery syndrome, neuropathic pain, chronic critical limb ischaemia and refractory angina pectoris.
