The Chelmsford ladies walk for charity
On Sunday 22nd May 2016, a team from The Chelmsford took part in a charity walk to help raise funds for Farleigh Hospice. Both clinical and non-clinical staff took part in either a 24km walk from Heybridge Basin, Maldon to E2V Chelmsford or a 12km walk from Papermill Lock to E2V Chelmsford.
So far the team have raised just over £400, but we're still counting with more fundraising money to be added to the pot.
The day started bright and early at 8am to catch a bus to the start line in Heybridge Basin. The team then set off on their walk along the River Chelmer taking in the beautiful scenery and bright sunshine with two honorary mascots, Meiszko and Daisy.
The halfway point, Papermill Lock, allowed the team to have a well earned rest and refreshment stop where they were then joined by the remaining members of the team to finish the walk. After food, fluids and sweets the team were ready to embark on the remaining 12km of their walk to the finish line.
The finish line was in sight, the sounds of chearing and music accompanied with the smell of delicious food encouraged the team to stay strong and cross the finish line in style. In total the team had been walking for just over 4 and a half hours to raise money for such a wonderful charity, Farleigh Hospice. They had such a great day walking with over 800 others in the gorgeous sunshine and made it to the end in one piece,.....just about. Monday morning saw quite a few tired and sore individuals,...which kept our Physio department busy.
WELL DONE TEAM CHELMSFORD!!
